How to work through your to-do list

7 min read

The To do page lists the problems worth fixing in your store, one card per problem. Critical cards come first, then the ones with the most money behind them. Each card says what’s wrong, why it matters and what to do, and its button opens the page where you fix it.

You will learn #

  • How the list decides what comes first
  • What a card tells you, and where its button takes you
  • How to clear a card: mark it done, snooze it, or hide it for good
  • Why a card you marked done can come back
  • Where to find the cards you’ve cleared

Before you begin #

  • Your list comes from an analysis of your store. Tendlio runs one every week on its own, and you can start one yourself with Re-scan store. If the page says Run an analysis to build your list, your first analysis hasn’t finished yet.
  • While an analysis is running, the page hides your cards. Your scores stay on the page, and the cards come back when the analysis finishes.

Open your to-do list #

  1. In your WordPress admin, open Tendlio → To do.

The number next to To do in the menu counts all your open to-dos. The page shows up to 20 at a time, so the menu can show a bigger number than the page. After you clear some cards, the next ones appear the next time you open the page.

Read the page from the top #

  • Store health shows your two scores, Inventory and Customers, from 0 to 100, each with a grade. When a score shows a dash, Tendlio can’t give that score yet. Sometimes a line under the dash says why, and the article A score shows “-” instead of a number goes through each reason.
  • Your next step is the card to deal with first.
  • Then tackle these shows the next four cards. Click Show N more under them to see the rest.

How the list is ordered #

Critical cards always come first. After them, the card with the most money at stake comes first, so a Medium card can sit above a High one when more money depends on it.

Your next step can also be a tool to switch on instead of a card:

  • Until you switch on your first Tendlio tool, Your next step suggests one.
  • While Tendlio isn’t saving abandoned checkouts and hasn’t brought in a sale for you yet, Your next step suggests Set up cart recovery, even when other tools are on.

When a tool takes Your next step, all your cards move under Then tackle these, so the page opens with four cards instead of five. A Critical card always keeps the top spot.

Understand a card #

A card can have these parts:

  • Severity: Critical, High, Medium or Low.
  • Title: the problem in one line, for example “Order 2 best-sellers within 5 days to stay in stock”.
  • Amount: what’s at stake, when Tendlio can put a number on it. An amount with ≈ in front of it is an estimate.
  • List: the products or customers the card is about, when there’s a list. A long list ends with a line such as “+10 more of them”.
  • Advice: what to do, next to the lightbulb.
  • Button: it opens the page where you fix the problem, for example See your restock list.

Fix a problem and mark it done #

  1. Click the button on the card. It opens the page where you fix the problem, and some buttons open a list filtered to the products on the card.
  2. Fix the problem on that page, for example by adding the products to your restock list and ordering them.
  3. Back on the To do page, click Mark done on the card. A message confirms it, and the card leaves the list. If it was Your next step, the next card takes its place. When the card you cleared was Critical, a tool to switch on can take its place instead.

One card, Fill in cost prices to see your Inventory Score, has no Mark done, Not relevant or Snooze…. It leaves on its own once you’ve added cost prices or set an average margin, and the next analysis has run.

Snooze a card or hide it for good #

  • Snooze…: use it when you’ve started on the fix but it takes time, for example a restock that arrives next week. Choose for 7 days, for 14 days or for 30 days. The card hides until then, and comes back if the problem is still there.
  • Not relevant: use it when a card doesn’t apply to your store. The card hides for good and doesn’t come back unless you restore it. On a card that covers a group of products, like the one about products priced below cost, Not relevant hides it for every product in the group, including ones that join later.

Tip: Mark done tells Tendlio you fixed the problem, and Tendlio checks it against your data. If you haven’t fixed it yet, choose Snooze… instead, and the card comes back when you planned to look at it again.

Why a card you marked done can come back #

Tendlio checks every card you mark done against your data. For a card about one mistake, the next analysis looks for the same problem. If the problem is gone, the card stays done. If it’s still there, the card comes back. Without that check, one click could hide two best-sellers that are about to sell out, and you’d find out when they did.

Some cards describe a trend rather than one mistake: best-sellers losing steam, stock piling up, products that stopped selling, customers going quiet. Those numbers take weeks to change, so a card like that stays done for about 30 days before Tendlio checks it again. If it’s still true then, it comes back.

To see which kind a card is, hover over Mark done. A card about one mistake says it “clears once your next analysis confirms it’s fixed”. A trend card says “We’ll re-check in about 30 days”.

Find the cards you’ve cleared #

  1. At the bottom of the To do page, click view history. You can also open Settings → History.
  2. Under Resolved & dismissed to-dos, your cleared cards are grouped under Done and Not relevant.
  3. Click Restore to put a card back on your to-do list.

Cards you snoozed are above that section, under Snoozed to-dos. Click Bring back now to return one before its time is up.

You can remove a card from Done with Delete forever. Cards under Not relevant have no Delete forever: they stay in your history until you restore them.

Frequently asked questions #

Why did a card come back after I marked it done? #

The next analysis still found the problem. Cards about a trend, like best-sellers losing steam, wait about 30 days before that check.

What's the difference between Snooze and Not relevant? #

Snooze hides a card for 7, 14 or 30 days, and it comes back after that if the problem is still there. Not relevant hides it until you restore it from Settings → History.

Why does the menu count more to-dos than I see? #

The page shows up to 20 cards at a time, and the number in the menu counts all your open to-dos. After you clear some, the next ones appear the next time you open the page.

How often does the list change? #

Tendlio builds it again every time you open it. Cards that read your recent orders, like best-sellers losing steam, can change between analyses. Cards built from the analysis, like stock running out, change after the next one.
