How to read your Store summary and get it by email

9 min read

The Store summary shows what changed in your store over the last week or month: your sales against the period before, how your two scores moved, what got done and what’s waiting on your to-do list. Tendlio also emails it to you, so you can read it without opening Tendlio.

You will learn #

  • Where to find the Store summary
  • What each part of the page tells you
  • How to choose weekly or monthly, and who gets the email
  • When the email goes out, and what to check when one doesn’t arrive

Before you begin #

  • The summary email is on from the start. It goes to you, never to your customers: setup fills in the email address of the WordPress user who finished it, unless an address was already there. The first summary goes out about a week after setup.
  • It covers a week unless you choose a month. One choice sets both the page and the email, as described under Choose weekly or monthly below.

Open the Store summary #

  1. In Tendlio’s menu, open Reports.
  2. Click Store summary.

When a new summary is ready, a note at the top of your Tendlio pages tells you, with See what changed →. The note goes away once you open the summary, or when you close it with ×.

Under the page title, a line names the days the page covers, for example “Covering Sep 21, 2026 to Sep 27, 2026 (the last 7 full days).” The same line notes that the count of best-sellers out of stock comes from your last analysis, not from those days.

Read the summary #

Sales and scores #

The top card compares the last 7 full days with the 7 before them, or last month with the month before:

  • Revenue, Orders and Avg order value, each with its change, for example +12% vs last week. Revenue is counted as on your Dashboard: without tax, and with refunds taken off on the day you give them.
  • Under each change are up to two more lines. The first compares the period with the same week or month a year ago. The second starts with Forecast: and says whether the period came in roughly as expected, ahead of expected or behind expected, judged by your store’s own sales at the same time in past years. Avg order value has no forecast line. Both lines need your store to have sales from a year ago.
  • Store health shows your Customer score and your Inventory score. Each one says how far it moved since the most recent analysis that’s at least a week old, and gives that analysis’s date.

Under the cards, one sentence reads the three sales numbers together, for example “Revenue grew because orders got bigger, not because there were more of them.”

Worth a look #

This card lists what stood out, each line only when it applies to your period:

  • how many best-sellers are out of stock as of your last analysis, the revenue at risk each month, and how that count changed since an earlier analysis
  • how many abandoned checkouts and saved carts came back, and what they were worth, while cart recovery is on
  • the product that picked up most and the one that cooled off most, with how many more or fewer you sold, and how much money that came to
  • your best sales day
  • the clicks and purchases your storefront widgets brought in

What got done #

This card lists up to 12 things you and Tendlio did in the period, such as analyses, discounts and campaigns, written the same way as the activity list in History. If more happened, See the full activity list → opens History.

Focus for next week #

This part says how many cards are waiting on your to-do list, with Open your to-do list →. On a monthly summary, it’s called Focus for next month.

Get the summary by email #

The email carries the same figures as the page. Once Tendlio has brought in a sale, the email also adds one line at the top of Worth a look: what Tendlio has brought in since you started, with See the breakdown, which opens Sales lift. Its subject is your store’s name followed by “your week in review” or “your month in review”. It comes from the From name and address on the Email sending page, or from your store’s name and admin email when those are empty.

Tendlio sends the summary with your site’s own email, the way WordPress sends its own messages, not through the sending method on the Email sending page. That’s why it goes out even while your customer emails are switched Off.

Every copy ends with a “Manage this email” link back to the settings at the bottom of the Store summary page.

Choose weekly or monthly #

  1. At the bottom of the Store summary, under Email this summary, open How often.
  2. Choose Every week or Every month.
  3. Click Save.

Every week covers the last 7 full days, against the 7 before. Every month covers the calendar month that just ended, against the month before. The page follows the same choice, even while the email is off. On a weekly summary, the page always shows the 7 full days before today, so it matches the email on the day the email arrives.

Change where it goes #

  1. Under Send to, type the address. Leave it empty to send the summary to your site’s admin email.
  2. Click Save.

The summary goes to one address for the whole store. The switch next to Summary email says Email this summary to me, but it sends to the address under Send to, whoever switches it on. If you type an address Tendlio can’t send to, such as name@localhost, which has no normal domain, Tendlio keeps the address you had and says so.

To stop the email, switch off Email this summary to me, and click Save. The page stays in Reports.

Send a test #

Click Send a test now. It sends one copy to the address under Send to right away, even before you click Save. A test copy says so in its own footer, so you can tell it from the summaries Tendlio sends on its own.

When the email goes out #

The first summary goes out about a week after you finish setup, on any day of the week. After that, Tendlio sends each summary on the first day your site runs its background tasks after the period ends. For a weekly summary, that’s Monday or the first day after it. For a monthly one, it’s the 1st or the first day after it. WordPress runs these tasks when your site gets visits, unless your host runs them on a schedule, so on a quiet site the email can come late. Opening a Tendlio page also sends it, when it’s due.

If your site runs no background tasks for a whole period, and nobody opens Tendlio, Tendlio skips the email for that period, and the next one covers the latest period.

On a copy of your store, such as a staging site, Tendlio doesn’t send the summary, and the email settings say so. Your live store keeps sending it, and Send a test now still works on the copy.

If an email doesn’t arrive #

  1. Check your spam folder.
  2. Click Send a test now. If the page says it could not send the test email, check the address under Send to, then ask your host whether your site can send email.
  3. Open Help → System status. Under Scheduled tasks, the Weekly summary email row says whether the last summary was sent, and to which address, with part of it hidden. If it wasn’t, the row says whether your site refused to send it, or Tendlio skipped it because it couldn’t read your sales figures.

If Tendlio can’t read your sales figures when a summary is due, it doesn’t send one with zeros where your numbers should be. It tries again the next time your site runs its background tasks. While Tendlio can’t read them, the Store summary page says the sales numbers are missing.

Why the summary works this way #

Three readings of the same number #

On a store with seasons, one comparison isn’t enough. If September is always quieter than August for you, the change against the month before shows a drop every September, whatever you did. The same month a year ago and your own forecast tell you whether the change is the season or something you can act on.

Completed days only #

The summary counts completed days, so what happens today joins the figures tomorrow. If it counted today too, the latest period would hold six days and part of a seventh against seven whole days before it, and every morning your sales would look lower than they are. On a monthly summary, the month you’re in joins once it’s over.

No daily summary #

Tendlio analyzes your store on its own once a week, so a daily email would repeat the same scores and the same to-do list.

No email with zeros in place of missing numbers #

A week with no sales can happen, so a zero in a summary means something. If an email showed zeros where Tendlio couldn’t read your sales, you’d take it for a bad week, not a missing one, so Tendlio holds the email back and tries again.

Frequently asked questions #

Can I get the summary every day? #

No. Tendlio analyzes your store on its own once a week, so a daily email would repeat the same scores and to-do list. You can choose weekly or monthly.

Why is the year-ago line missing under my numbers? #

It needs sales from the same week or month a year ago. A store in its first year doesn't have them yet.

Does the summary email need my sending account? #

No. Tendlio sends it with your site's own email, so it goes out even while your customer emails are switched Off.
