Starting over, or what happens if I uninstall

6 min read

Deactivating Tendlio doesn’t remove your data. Deleting the plugin doesn’t remove it either, unless you’ve turned on the switch that deletes the data too. That switch is also how you start from zero.

I want to go through the setup again #

You don’t have to reinstall Tendlio for that. Open Settings → General, scroll to Setup at the bottom, click Re-run setup wizard, and confirm.

The wizard opens with your current answers, apart from the cost question, which it asks again, so your settings stay as they are unless you change them. Your scores and past analyses stay, and finishing the wizard runs a new analysis. Until you finish, Tendlio opens the wizard in place of the Dashboard, and it holds back the weekly analysis and the Store summary email. After you finish, the next Store summary email goes out a week later at the earliest, as it did after your first setup.

To see the Dashboard tour again, click Replay the welcome tour, under Re-run setup wizard.

What happens when I deactivate Tendlio? #

When you click Deactivate next to Tendlio on the Plugins page, Tendlio first shows what it’s doing on your store right now. You can pick a reason for leaving from a list, or leave the list as it is. Then click Deactivate anyway, or Keep it on if you change your mind.

While Tendlio is off:

  • Tendlio stops everything it does: no analyses, no emails, no product rows or counting on your storefront, and no saving of abandoned carts. It can’t fill in those days later, so their views, clicks and abandoned carts are missing for good.
  • Everything Tendlio stored stays. When you turn Tendlio back on, it carries on from there. If sending is Live, the emails that were waiting go out, except cart reminders, review requests, welcome emails and second-order nudges that have waited more than 14 days.
  • Prices Tendlio set stay on your products. Sale prices from Auto outlet and Manual outlet, and the price from a price test, stay as they are until you change them.
  • Coupons Tendlio created stay in WooCommerce, so a customer can still use one. While Tendlio is off, a percentage code from Tendlio also takes its discount off products already on sale. While Tendlio is on, the code skips them.
  • Tendlio shortcodes you placed on pages show as plain text, such as [tendlio_deals], until you remove them or turn Tendlio back on.
  • If you offer a free gift, a gift that’s already in a shopper’s cart is free only while Tendlio is on. With Tendlio off, WooCommerce charges the gift’s normal price if the shopper checks out.

To undo Tendlio’s price changes before you deactivate:

  1. Open Inventory → Auto outlet, and on the Discount rules tab, click Revert all. This removes every Outlet discount, including the ones you set on Manual outlet.
  2. If you’re running a price test, click Revert on it, on the Experimental page.

What happens when I delete Tendlio? #

WordPress lets you delete a plugin only after you’ve deactivated it, so everything in the section above happens first. What deleting removes then depends on one switch: Delete all plugin data when the plugin is deleted, under Delete data when you uninstall on Help → System status. The switch is off unless you turn it on, and only an administrator can change it.

  • With the switch off: deleting removes Tendlio’s files and keeps all of its data in your database. If you install Tendlio again, it picks up where you left off.
  • With the switch on: deleting removes Tendlio and all of its data for good. The next section says what that covers.

I want Tendlio to forget everything and start from zero #

Tendlio has no reset button. To start from zero, delete Tendlio together with its data, then install it again:

  1. Open Help → System status. Under Delete data when you uninstall, turn on Delete all plugin data when the plugin is deleted, click Save, and confirm.
  2. On the Plugins page, deactivate Tendlio, then click Delete.
  3. Install Tendlio again, as described in How to install Tendlio.

When you delete Tendlio with that switch on, it first puts back the prices it changed, and then removes its data:

  • Outlet discounts come off. A product goes back to its regular price, and a sale of yours that Auto outlet took over comes back with its start and end dates.
  • A product in a price test goes back to the price it had before the test.
  • The outlet tag comes off the products Tendlio tagged. The tag itself stays in WooCommerce, in case you use it on products of your own.
  • Tendlio deletes all its data: scores and past analyses, customer groups, saved carts and checkouts, your saved emails and campaigns, the record of sent emails, the do-not-email list, and all Tendlio settings.
  • Tendlio deletes the coupons it created, used ones included. Your orders keep the discounts they got.
  • Tendlio deletes its fields on your products: Supplier, Pack size, Bulky item, Exclude from Outlet Auto, Offer as a free gift and Seasonal handling.

What stays:

  • your orders, products and customers;
  • your cost prices, because Tendlio saves them in WooCommerce’s own cost field;
  • the mark on order lines that were free gifts, so after you reinstall, those gifts still don’t count as sales.

Tendlio puts a price back only while it’s still the price Tendlio set, so if you’ve changed a price yourself since Tendlio set it, your price stays. If a price can’t be put back, for example because of a database error, Tendlio keeps its record of that change, so you can still undo it after you install Tendlio again.

Important: Deleting Tendlio with this switch on can’t be undone. It also deletes the do-not-email list, so a reinstalled Tendlio doesn’t know who unsubscribed before, and it could email those people again.

Frequently asked questions #

Does deleting Tendlio delete my data? #

Not unless you turn on Delete all plugin data when the plugin is deleted under Help → System status. With that switch off, your data stays in your database and a reinstall picks up where you left off.

Do Outlet discounts stay if I deactivate Tendlio? #

Yes. The sale prices stay on your products until you change them. Click Revert all on Auto outlet before you deactivate to remove them.

Is there a reset button? #

No. To start from zero, turn on the delete-data switch, delete Tendlio and install it again.
