What your to-do list can catch

14 min read

Tendlio turns each problem it finds in your store into a card on your to-do list. This page lists every kind of card, what it means, and the button it gives you to deal with it.

Your list only shows the cards your store needs right now, so you’ll see some of these, not all of them. Where a card title shows a number, this page writes it as N.

Cards that wait for something else #

Some cards show only once a tool, a setting or enough data is in place, and each card below says which. Two things hold back several cards at once:

  • While the card “Fill in cost prices to see your Inventory Score” shows, it’s the only card about your products. Cards about your customers, abandoned checkouts and email still show, and the cards in the other sections below wait until it’s gone.
  • While your Inventory Score shows a dash because your store has too few orders, five cards stay off: months of stock, cash tied up, products that stopped selling, stock value in low-revenue products, and revenue concentrated in too few products.

Stock and restocking #

  • “Order N best-sellers within X days to stay in stock”: best-sellers whose last day to order is 7 days away or less. The last day to order is the day a product runs out, minus its supplier’s lead time, so an order placed by then arrives before the shelf is empty. X is the nearest of those days, and each product on the card shows its own. When a product will run out before any order can arrive, the title reads “Order N best-sellers today: they run out before a delivery can arrive”, and the product shows about how many days it will be without stock. Best-sellers here are the products that bring in most of your revenue. When no best-seller needs an order that soon, or you haven’t set a lead time for your suppliers, the title reads “N best-sellers are running low on stock”. Button: See your restock list.
  • “Your fastest movers are out of stock”: the products that sell fastest for you are sold out, and every day out of stock is revenue you don’t get. Button: See your restock list.
  • “N products are carrying months of stock (X tied up)”: products that still sell, but you hold many months of stock for them. They don’t need a discount: stop reordering them for now. The card tells you when your restock list already leaves them out. Button: Show me which products.
  • “Cash tied up in stock that won’t sell soon”: the money in stock that hasn’t sold in a year or more, that you hold far more of than you sell, or that sits in variations that don’t sell. The card’s advice is to discount the stock that doesn’t sell at all, and to stop reordering the rest until it sells down. Button: Show me which products, which opens Manual outlet.

Products that slowed down or stopped #

  • “N products stopped selling”: products that sold in the last year but have now gone longer without a sale than they usually take to sell three units. A change in price, photo or placement can bring them back before they turn into dead stock. Button: Show me which products.
  • “N best-sellers are losing steam”: best-sellers selling less in the last 30 days than in the same 30 days last year. When your history doesn’t reach back a year, the card compares with the 30 days before instead. Their stock is fine, so the drop comes from demand or visibility. Button: Compare the periods.
  • “N% of stock value sits in low-revenue products”: the products at the bottom of your catalog bring in a small part of your revenue but hold a large part of your stock value. Button: Open the “No sales in 12 months” filter. That filter shows only the products that haven’t sold at all, so its count won’t match the card’s.

Seasonal products #

  • “N seasonal products are missing their season”: seasonal products that have sold much less this season than last season by the same day. The card suggests clearing them while buyers are still shopping for that season. It only looks at products marked seasonal, by Seasonal detection, on the product itself or through its category. Button: Open Manual outlet.
  • “N seasonal products sold nothing last season”: seasonal products whose season is running now and that sold nothing in their last season or so far in this one. The card suggests discounting them while shoppers are buying, so they don’t wait in storage for another year. Button: Show the list, which opens them on Manual outlet with a discount button on every simple product’s row.
  • “N categories sell mostly at one time of year”: categories whose sales come mostly in a few months of the year, found in your last analysis with the same checks Seasonal detection uses for a single product. The card names each category with its months and the share of its sales in them. It appears while Seasonal detection is on. Button: Review, which opens Seasons by category on the Seasonal page, with the form already filled in when there is one category.
  • “N products look dead but are forecast to sell soon”: products that barely sold lately but sold in this same part of the year in past years, so they’re most likely seasonal. This card appears while Seasonal detection is off. Button: Turn on Seasonal detection.

Prices, margins and discounts #

  • “N products are priced below cost”: products whose price is under their cost price, so every sale loses money. If they’re all priced that way on purpose, mark the card Not relevant. It’s one card for all of them, so Not relevant hides it for every product on it, including ones that join the group later. Button: See which products.
  • “N of your top sellers by revenue have thin profit margins”: products that sell well but leave you a small share of each sale as profit. The card suggests testing a small price increase. Button: Review their prices.
  • “N coupons are giving away more than they earn”: coupons whose discount was bigger than the profit on the orders that used them. Button: Open the Discount report.
  • “N products are stuck at a discount and still not selling”: products that have carried an Outlet discount for a long time without selling a single unit. A long time is a year, unless you’ve changed Stuck after on the Auto outlet page in Advanced mode. Button: See what’s stuck.
  • “Did your Outlet discounts work?”: a few weeks after products were marked down, the before-and-after is ready to check. Button: See if it worked.
  • Free shipping (“You give free shipping with no minimum”, “A free-shipping threshold could lift your order value”, “Your free-shipping threshold may be out of reach”, “Your free-shipping threshold is lower than it needs to be”): your free-shipping rule compared with your average order. Button: Open shipping settings.
  • “Fill in cost prices to see your Inventory Score”: too few of your products have a cost price for the Inventory Score to be worked out. This card has no Mark done, Not relevant or Snooze…, and it leaves once you’ve added costs or set an average margin and run an analysis. While it shows, the other cards about your products wait (see the top of this page). Button: Set your average margin.
  • “Cost data is incomplete”: some products still have no cost price, so your profit and dead-stock figures leave them out. Button: Show me which products.

Where your revenue comes from #

  • “Revenue is concentrated in too few products”: a few products bring in a large part of your revenue, so a month depends on them. Button: Set up Smart Product Sort.
  • “Revenue leans on one category”: one category brings in a large part of your revenue, so a dip there moves the whole month. Button: Set up Smart Product Sort.

Views and sales #

These two cards show only while Tendlio is counting views on your shop pages and your shop has had enough visits in the last 30 days. They look at those 30 days. Views come from a small script on your shop pages, so they’re a close estimate. Add-to-carts are counted on your server and are exact, except on days before Tendlio started leaving out adds made by bots; when the 30 days reach back that far, the card says so.

  • “N product pages get lots of views but few add-to-carts”: products that shoppers open often but rarely add to the cart, weakest first. Sold-out products are left out, because they have no add-to-cart button. What loses the sale is usually on the page itself: the price, the photos, the description or the reviews. When you mark the card done, it stays done for about 30 days, because a change you make needs that long to show in the rate. Button: See which pages, which opens that list on the Views to sales report.
  • “Shoppers keep opening N products you’ve run out of”: sold-out products that still get views. Best-sellers that are already on your card about best-sellers running low aren’t repeated here, and the card says how many it left out. It suggests restocking the ones you still sell, and turning on In-stock alternatives for the rest, so shoppers who open them see similar products they can buy. When In-stock alternatives is already on, the card says so. If Tendlio hasn’t seen it on your product pages lately, the card also tells you how to make sure shoppers see it. Button: See which products, which opens that list on the Views to sales report.

Returns and reviews #

  • “N products are being returned a lot”: products with a high share of their sales refunded. This card needs WooCommerce Analytics. Button: Review the product.
  • “Sizing is driving refunds”, or the same card for damage, quality complaints, wrong or unexpected items, or slow delivery: the reasons you type when you refund orders keep naming the same problem. Tendlio reads reasons written in English. Button: See your products.
  • “N best-sellers have no product reviews”: best-sellers without a single review. This card appears while the Reviews tool is on your menu and review requests are off. Button: Set up review requests.

Customers #

  • “N of your best customers have gone quiet”: Champions, your best customers, who haven’t ordered in a while. The card says how many days, and your best customers usually order far more often than that. Button: Open the quiet ones.
  • “Your At-Risk customers are slipping away”: repeat customers who used to order regularly have gone quiet. Button: Start a win-back email.
  • “Your best customers aren’t being rewarded”: you have Champions, but Customer recognition is off, or it’s on but something stops it, and the card says what. Button: Turn on Customer recognition or Open Customer recognition.
  • Cards from your Customer Score: when a part of your Customer Score is low, its card says which and gives you an email to build. The titles are “Too many first-time buyers never come back” (Build the welcome email), “Few customers become repeat buyers” (Build the loyalty email), “Your active customers are going quiet” (Build the re-engagement email), “Older customers aren’t coming back” (Build the win-back email) and “No top-customer segment has formed yet” (Build the thank-you email). These cards don’t appear while your store has too little customer history, or too few orders in the last year, for a Customer Score.
  • “A wave of new customers to keep” or “Fewer new customers lately”: first-time buyers made up a much bigger or much smaller share of your orders in the last 90 days than in the 90 days before. This card needs WooCommerce Analytics. Buttons: Set up the welcome email or Run a campaign.
  • “Turn first-time buyers into repeat customers with the right next product”: customers who first bought one product came back most often for one particular second product, and the card names both. Button: Email one-time buyers.
  • “Did your recent campaign work?”: a few weeks after a campaign, the before-and-after for that group is ready to check. Button: See if it worked.

Abandoned checkouts and email #

  • “Recovery emails are ready to schedule” or “Keep tracking before sending recovery emails”: Tendlio is saving abandoned checkouts, and no recovery email goes out yet. The card says whether Tendlio has seen enough shoppers come back on their own to time the offer email. Button: Open recovery tracking.
  • “Cart capture stopped working”: orders came through your checkout, but cart capture recorded none of them. The capture test tells you whether a caching or speed plugin is blocking it. Button: Run the capture test.
  • “Set a minimum basket for recovery offers” (called “Set a floor before recovery offers go out” once recovery emails are going out): recovery offers have no minimum basket yet, so a very small checkout can still get an offer. Button: Set minimum basket.
  • “Your customer list has outgrown your sending limit”: at your daily sending limit, one campaign to all your customers would take weeks. Button: Open email sending.

Where your orders come from #

  • “A speed setting is hiding where your orders come from”: a speed plugin, or sometimes your theme, holds back WooCommerce’s order source tracking until the shopper clicks or scrolls. A shopper who lands on a page and moves on before that is recorded as Direct, so your order sources look wrong. The card names the scripts to add to your speed plugin’s list, and it goes away once Tendlio sees them run on your home page. It appears while Experimental features are on in Settings, which is also what shows the Marketing & profit report. Button: Show me how.

Tools you haven’t switched on yet #

A couple of days after you set Tendlio up, the list can suggest one tool at a time that fits what your store is doing:

  • “Start tracking abandoned checkouts”: your store gets orders, and cart recovery is off. Button: Set up cart recovery.
  • “Let your product listings put stronger products first”: Smart Product Sort is off, and you have enough products that sell at a profit. It doesn’t show while “Revenue is concentrated in too few products” is on your list. Button: Preview Smart Product Sort.

Separately, two cards suggest showing the products your customers buy together. They appear when your orders show products bought together, and they need WooCommerce Analytics. You see one of them at a time, the cart first:

  • “Suggest related products in the cart”: cart recommendations are off. If your cart page uses the block Cart, the card also gives you the shortcode that places the row there. Button: Turn on cart recommendations.
  • “Show shoppers what’s frequently bought together”: your product pages don’t show those pairs yet. It appears once cart recommendations are on, or while the cart card is marked done, snoozed or set to Not relevant. Button: Set up Frequently bought together.

Frequently asked questions #

Why don't I see all of these cards? #

Each card appears only when your store has that problem, and some also wait for a tool, a setting or WooCommerce Analytics.

Can I add my own to-do cards? #

No. Tendlio builds every card from your store's own data and settings.

Why do some cards have no amount? #

A card shows an amount only when Tendlio can put a number on what's at stake. Cards like "Did your recent campaign work?" ask you to check a result instead.
