Boost moves a product up for two weeks, on your shop and category pages and in the recommendation rows it belongs to. Hide keeps a product out of Tendlio’s recommendation rows. During a boost and after it, Tendlio shows what changed, against the same stretch of days before the boost started.
You will learn #
- How to boost a product, and where it moves up
- Why a boost sometimes waits, and how many products one category can have boosted
- How to read what changed during a boost
- How to hide a product from your recommendation rows
Before you begin #
- Shoppers have to be able to see the product. Tendlio boosts a product only when it’s published, has no password, and its Catalog visibility in WooCommerce is Shop and search results or Shop only. For any other product, the answer to your click says what to change first.
- Keep storefront measurement on if you want to compare how often shoppers saw the product before and during the boost. It’s on unless you’ve switched off Measure views, clicks, add-to-carts and purchases, for your widgets and for every product under Settings → General → Storefront. Without it, Tendlio still compares the sales.
- A product in a price test can’t be boosted, and a boosted product can’t start a price test. End one before you start the other.
Boost a product #
- In your WordPress admin, open Tendlio → Inventory → Products & insights.
- Find the product, and click Boost under its name.
- Read the answer that appears where the button was. It says the day the boost runs until, and where the product moves up right now.
You’ll find the same button in a few other places:
- The product’s Insights page: click Insights under the product’s name, and under Boost or hide, click Boost.
- Several products at once: on Products & insights, tick the products, then click Boost in the With the ticked products bar. The answer says how many were boosted and how many were skipped, and why each one was skipped.
- The Auto outlet plan, next to products marked Skipped (hardly seen yet). A discount only reaches shoppers who see the product, and a boost puts it in front of more of them.
- Reports → Customers report, next to each product under Products that bring your best customers. The report suggests putting these products in front of new customers. A boost moves them up for every shopper, not only new ones.
Tendlio saves a change the moment you click. If your site uses a page cache, shoppers see the change when the cache next refreshes, and until then they may still see your pages as they were.
Where a boosted product moves up #
A boost moves a product forward in lists it already belongs to. It never adds the product to a list whose rules wouldn’t include it, so a row called “Frequently bought together” still shows only products bought together.
- Your shop page, and your category, tag and attribute pages. The first places alternate between boosted products and the products the page would show first anyway: a boosted product, then the page’s own first product, then another boosted product, and so on. The product that would come first without any boost always stays in the first two places. Up to three boosted products move up on any one page.
- The recommendation rows Tendlio adds to your store, such as Frequently bought together, Cart recommendations, In-stock alternatives, Trending now, Recommended for you and On-sale picks, and the Deals page and the 404 page suggestions. The product moves up in a row whenever the row’s rules include it, even if it ranked too low to show there before. Many of those rows change with each shopper and their cart, and up to three boosted products move up in any one row.
- WooCommerce’s own Related products, on the pages of products that share a category or a tag with it, if your theme shows WooCommerce’s standard related products. A theme that builds that list its own way may leave the product where it was.
A boost doesn’t move the product:
- when a shopper sorts a list themselves, by price for example, or searches. The list keeps their order.
- on a category you’ve excluded from Smart Product Sort. That page keeps your own order.
- in a product block or shortcode that picks its own products, on your homepage for example.
- while it’s sold out. The two weeks keep running, and the product moves up again once it’s back in stock.
When a category is full, and when a boost waits #
Each category can have three boosted products at a time. Tendlio counts the categories ticked on the product itself, not their parent categories, and it leaves out categories excluded from Smart Product Sort, since nothing moves up on their pages. If one of the product’s categories already has three, Boost doesn’t go through. The answer names the category and lists its boosted products, with the day each one ends and a Stop button next to each. Stop one of them, then click Boost this one.
Your shop page, a parent category or a tag page gathers products from several categories, so more than three of its products can be boosted at once. Only three move up at a time, and the ones boosted first go first. The same goes for the recommendation rows. The answer tells you where your product waits and when it moves up, for example “On your shop page it waits behind 3 boosts that started earlier, and moves up when one of them ends (currently October 10, 2026)”. That date can move, because a boost ahead of yours can be extended.
Two weeks, Extend and Stop #
A boost runs for the rest of the day you start it and two whole weeks after that. It ends on its own at midnight, by your store’s clock.
- Extend two weeks, on the product’s Insights page, moves the end of the boost to two weeks from today. The boost keeps its place in line among the other boosts.
- Stop ends the boost right away. Its result stays on the product’s Insights page.
Boosting a product again after its boost has ended starts a new boost, which goes to the back of the line.
See what changed #
On the product’s Insights page, under Boost or hide, This boost so far (called Last boost once it has ended) compares the boost with the same number of whole days just before it started. The table shows, before and during the boost:
- Seen on your pages and in the recommendation rows
- Product page views
- Added to cart
- Sold online
- Online revenue
The first comparison is ready after seven whole days. It’s updated after 14 days, and after 21 and 28 if you extend the boost. The day the boost started doesn’t count, because part of that day came before the boost. Where shoppers saw it shows how often the product was seen on each page and in each row.
Sometimes there’s no clean “before”, and the page says why:
- A new product didn’t exist for the whole stretch before the boost, so you see what happened during the boost only.
- An earlier boost of the same product ran during the stretch before, so there’s no clean “before” either.
- Storefront measurement was off for part of the stretch before, so the views can’t be compared. Tendlio still compares the sales.
- Nobody saw the product before the boost, and shoppers did during it. You see both numbers. The page says that’s the change the boost was for, and that whether it sells is the next question.
If storefront measurement is switched off, or started after the boost began, the views during the boost show a dash as well, because Tendlio can’t count them. Tendlio still counts the sales.
If the product’s price changed during either stretch, the page says how many times, because part of the difference may come from the price.
The numbers say what happened, not why. Few product page views don’t always mean shoppers passed the product over, because they can add it to the cart straight from a list. If it didn’t sell, look at the picture, the name and the price shoppers see first.
In the recommendation rows, the page can add a hint: the product was shown often and hardly opened, or opened and hardly bought, compared with an average card in those rows. A boosted product sits near the front, and a card there can get more clicks for its place alone, so read it as a hint rather than a measurement.
A boost’s before-and-after isn’t added to Sales lift, because the numbers of one product can’t prove what caused them.
See all your boosts #
On Products & insights, the Boosted button next to the health colors opens a list of every boost, the running ones first. Its columns are Dates, Status, Seen, before and during, Sold, before and during and Comparison. A running boost has Extend and Stop, and an ended one has Boost again. The button shows up once you’ve boosted your first product, and its number is how many boosts are running now, so it can read 0 after your last boost ends.
When a boost that ran at least a whole week ends, on its own or with Stop, your to-do list gets one card for all the boosts that ended in the past seven days: A boost ended this past week or Boosts ended this past week, with the result of each. Its advice is to boost again the products that are starting to sell, leave the ones that already sell, and try a discount on a slow product that still didn’t sell while shoppers were seeing it. The Insights page of a slow product that sold nothing during its boost has an Open it in Manual outlet button, which opens Manual outlet on that product.
Before either place suggests a discount, Tendlio checks that shoppers saw the product during its boost. If shoppers saw it or opened its page fewer than 5 times, the card and the Insights page say how many times and suggest another boost instead, because a discount helps a product people have seen and passed by. If storefront measurement is switched off, started after the boost began, or its numbers can’t be read, Tendlio can’t check, so the discount is still offered and neither place says shoppers saw the product.
Hide a product from recommendations #
- On Products & insights, click Insights under the product’s name.
- Under Boost or hide, click Hide.
The product leaves Tendlio’s recommendation rows, the Deals page and the 404 page suggestions. It still shows on your shop and category pages and in search. To take it off those too, change its Catalog visibility in WooCommerce. WooCommerce’s own Related products come from WooCommerce and your theme, so Hide doesn’t change them.
- To hide several products at once, tick them on Products & insights and click Hide from recommendations.
- To bring a product back, click Normal on its Insights page, click Show again in its row on Products & insights, or tick it and click Back to normal.
- If the product was boosted, hiding it ends the boost. Undo, right after you hide it, starts a new two-week boost.
To find products that shoppers keep passing over in the rows, open Reports → Storefront widgets and look for Shown, not clicked under Every product the widgets touched.
Give your boosted products a row of their own #
The Boosted products row panel, under Storefront → Recommendations, adds a row of the products you’re boosting to a page you choose, your homepage for example.
- Switch on Show a row of the products you boosted.
- Change the Heading if you like (it’s Our picks unless you change it), and set How many to show.
- Click Save settings.
- Put the shortcode
[tendlio_boosted]on the page where you want the row.
This is the one row that a boost adds products to, because the row is made of boosted products. When nothing is boosted, shoppers don’t see the row. It comes back when you boost something, and until then the panel says the row is empty. Sales that come through this row count in Sales lift, like the sales of any other row.
Why Boost works this way #
A boost moves products, it doesn’t add them #
Every row makes a promise in its title: “Frequently bought together”, “Trending now”, “Deals”. Moving a product within a row keeps that promise. Adding a product from outside would break it.
The first product stays in the first two places #
The first places on a category page are the first thing shoppers see. A boost that pushed the product your page puts first out of them could cost you sales, and nothing on the page would tell you.
Three boosted products per category #
When everything in a category is boosted, nothing stands out. With three places, the boosted products in a category stand in front. A fourth boost in the same category would count as running but couldn’t move up on that category’s page, where only three move up at a time, so Tendlio refuses it instead.
Comparisons in whole weeks #
A stretch of whole weeks has each day of the week the same number of times. Comparing seven days with the seven days before puts a Monday against a Monday and a weekend against a weekend, so the difference doesn’t come from which days of the week each stretch had.
Auto outlet waits while a boost runs #
A discount is for a product shoppers saw and didn’t buy. A boost is how more of them get to see it, so Auto outlet leaves a boosted product alone until the boost ends, and its plan shows Skipped (boost running until …). Then it carries on as before. Manual outlet still works on a boosted product.
A boost and a price test don’t run together #
Both change how a product sells. If they ran at the same time, Tendlio couldn’t tell whether the change in sales came from the boost or from the price.

Frequently asked questions #
Does Boost change the price? #
No. It changes only where the product stands in your lists. To discount a product, use Manual outlet.
Is Boost the same as WooCommerce's Featured products? #
No. Featured is a mark your theme uses in its own places, a homepage slider for example. Boost moves the product up your shop and category pages and in Tendlio's rows, for two weeks, and shows you what changed.
Why doesn't my boosted product show first on my homepage? #
A product block or shortcode that picks its own products keeps its own order. Add the Boosted products row to your homepage to show your boosted products there.
Can I boost more than three products? #
Yes, across categories. Each category can have three at a time; stop one to make room for another in that category.
