The Discount report shows whether the money you give away in discounts comes back as sales. It covers four kinds of discount: your coupons, the products on sale right now, the price cuts you’ve made, and your Outlet discounts.
Open the report #
- In your WordPress admin, open Tendlio → Reports.
- Click Discount report, listed under How are sales? on the Overview.
The page itself is called Discount effectiveness.
Coupons #
Pick a Coupon window of 3, 6 or 12 months. The report opens on 12 months, and it includes the orders with a status that counts as a sale.
The four cards compare your orders with a coupon and without one:
- Orders with a coupon and Orders without, each with its average order value (AOV).
- Coupon AOV vs not: how much bigger or smaller an order with a coupon is than one without, on average. It shows a percentage once at least 10 orders in the window used a coupon.
- Total given away: all the coupon discounts in the window.
When some of that discount came from codes Tendlio sent, for cart recovery and customer recognition, a line under the cards says how much.
Under the cards, the table has a row for each coupon with its Redemptions, Discount given, Order revenue and AOV. Sent by says who made the coupon: You, or Tendlio for a code the plugin made. The coupons that gave away the most come first, and the table shows up to 200 of them. Order revenue is the full total of the orders that used the coupon, so an order that used two coupons counts under both.
Redemptions only tell you that a coupon is popular. If a coupon’s AOV in the table is no higher than the AOV of your orders without a coupon, the coupon may be paying for sales you’d have made anyway. To find out, pause the code for two weeks and watch what your sales do.
The report doesn’t show a coupon’s profit. When a coupon’s discount is bigger than the margin on the orders that used it, your To do page can show the card N coupons are giving away more than they earn, which names the coupons.
Products on sale right now #
On sale right now counts every product that’s discounted at this moment, whether you set the sale price in WooCommerce or Outlet did, and lists the ones that gave up the most margin. For a product with variations, it follows the cheapest variation, so a sale on a more expensive variation alone may not show.
- Price: the regular price, the sale price and the discount.
- On sale for: how long the product has been at this sale price. Tendlio records prices from the day it’s installed, so a sale that started earlier shows before tracking.
- Units before → since: units sold in the first days of the discount, up to 45, next to the same number of days right before it. The row says how many days it compares.
- Margin given up: the price cut times the units sold at the sale price so far. This is how much less those units brought in than they would have at the regular price.
- Source: Manual sale for a sale price you set in WooCommerce, Outlet (auto) or Outlet (manual) for an Outlet discount.
The table shows the 50 products that gave up the most margin, chosen from the 200 products whose price is cut the most per unit. When more products are on sale, a line under the table says how many. If a discount isn’t selling more units than before, it’s only lowering your price.
Price drops #
Price-drop effectiveness lists the price cuts from the last 90 days: a lower regular price, or a lower sale price, whether you set it or Outlet did. For each cut it compares the units sold after it with the same number of days before it, up to 45 days each, and shows the difference as Lift. Changes to the same product made within two days of each other count as one, and the row says how many changes it combined.
The table reads your 100 most recent price cuts. Tendlio records prices from the day it’s installed, so it doesn’t know about cuts from before then.
Outlet discounts #
Outlet discount performance measures the discounts Outlet applied, from Auto outlet and from Manual outlet. Two filters narrow it down: a category, which includes everything under it, and Who discounted it, with Every discount, Discounted by hand and Discounted by the automatic steps. Click Apply to use them.
The card over the table looks at the discounts in your filter together: whether these products sell faster since their discounts, their units sold per day before and after, the margin given up and the revenue collected. It counts its own days before and after, so its margin isn’t the total of the table’s Margin spent. The Results tab of the Auto outlet page shows the same card for all your Outlet discounts.
The table has a row for each discounted product:
- Discount: how big it is, and whether you set it by hand or it’s a step of the automatic discounts.
- Applied: the day the discount started.
- Units before → after and Lift: units sold in the first days of the discount, up to 60, next to the same number of days right before it. If the discount was removed, or you changed the price yourself, the count stops on that day, and the product is marked reverted or taken over.
- Margin spent: the price cut times the units sold after the discount started, in the same days as Units before → after. It uses the current discount for every unit, so when a discount went deeper step by step, the figure can read a little high.
The table shows your most recent Outlet discounts, up to 300, and fills in a few days after your first Outlet discount starts.
Why the report works this way #
Coupon revenue counts the whole order #
The report puts each order’s full total against the coupon it used, tax and shipping included. A coupon belongs to the order it was used on, even when it discounts only some of the products in it. The full total shows what the orders that used a coupon brought in, and lets you compare them with orders that didn’t use one.
What a before-and-after comparison can tell you #
Sales move for reasons other than a discount: the season, a campaign, a product that ran out. A before-and-after comparison shows you what changed. It can’t tell you why. Over a longer stretch, a one-off cause like a campaign counts for less, so give a discount time before you judge it.

Frequently asked questions #
Does the Discount report show the profit on each coupon? #
No. It shows each coupon's discount and the revenue of the orders that used it. When a coupon's discount is bigger than the margin on those orders, a card on your To do page names it.
Why does a sale show "before tracking"? #
Tendlio records prices from the day it's installed, so it can't tell when an older sale started.
Why is an Outlet product marked taken over? #
You changed its price yourself, so Outlet stepped back, and the sales after that day aren't counted for the discount.
